This year for Earth Day at tonyshoes we are hoping that you are just as determined as us to reconnect with nature who gets back to life little by little on this blessed season. We have decided a few years ago to keep doing so through small thoughtful acts that make all the difference. Mother Nature is not a hermit haunting the countryside or the dark forests and it is so much more than a menstrual nightmare (...) it is our main resource, it is our challenge and our education. And realizing it allows us to see all the possibilities for growth and learning opportunities that lays at our feet.  Every day and at every change of seasons, under every tree and behind every bush lies a lesson or a surprise.

So we want to share with you not only our ecological hopes on this Earth Day but also our love for gardening. Here is an idea we added to the list of ecological challenges ahead as we have decided to introduce our little ones to the soul southing and personality building skill of growing greens.  So in case you plan to do so too this year, here are some tips on how you can help the little ones in their learning and sharing with them the love of all things gardening:

1. Organize activities affinities: some flowers of love for candy pink, others prefer the green toads, insects and butterflies, while others enjoy their vegetables by helping the edge of a garden.

2. Adapt activities to the age: for young gardeners, focus on turning the soil and water. In addition, show the insects, worms, roots, sprouts and how drainage works are (watching the water disappears into the ground). Giving primary school children their own plot to grow annual flowers and vegetables, and let them choose the plants, seeds sure that most are easy to grow, fast growing.

3. Give them colourful and age-appropriate tools.

4. Relax your standard: twisted lines and some weeds are tolerated, while vegetables and flowers are mingling with abandon. Remember, this is their patch!

5. Encourage older children to get vegetables or flowers, they grew in local fairs, keep in mind that the topics make good garden biology projects or entries in the Science Fair.

6. Teach children the role of insects in the garden: How flowers are pollinated by birds, insects and other animals, even parasites can be exciting to watch and learn, and children will probably more than happy to help you get the slugs wide plantain lily.

7. Do not make gardening a boring chore: when it's time to weed, participate and make a game, do not insist on the execution of tasks when it is hot and uncomfortable. Sessions "work" short and remember, watering is always more fun than weeding.

And at the same time because the gardeners need shoes too, you are invited to refer to the following section for waterproof, colorful and trendy boots, shoes and ducks that are perfect for this activity

Rain Mood - Rain make everything so much better

Rain Mood - Rain make everything better

You finally can wear those rain-boots you like so much, everything is more romantic under the rain when you have imaginationcocooning is gilt free and you can always dance under it without looking too crazy so yes it is spring and probability of precipitation is more certain than ever, rain is in the forecast and umbrella prices are plummeting (not our waterproof shoes and boots) ;p
Rain is a precious gift from the heavens. It falls from the sky. Sometimes it falls in large amounts. Sometimes it drizzles. Sometimes it it takes us by surprise, sometimes during drought its a welcomed guest. When it does visit it always brings its friends the clouds. Rain can also bring its noisy friend thunder and an its illuminating partner lightning.

Rain is like a guest in our lives. At first you’re glad to see the rain, but if it stays around too long, it can out stay its welcome.Rain can be refreshing. It gives the air and the countryside a shower. It washes the pollen from the air. It washes the pollen off the cars, sidewalks, and driveways. Rain removes the dust from the leaves of the flowers, bushes and trees, washes the snow away.

but let us tell you how we think that rain is no pain, in contrary it is a spring wash that we enjoy (and Montreal do need one once a while I'm sure you agree) and specially when it washes away those heavy winter boots. Let me tell you that this is going to be one of the most colorful rainy weeks ever, with all the shiny, neon, flashy, trends and prints of 2012 and 2013, ward robes are in Technicolor and ready to contrast with gloom and share
